Heriz rugs originated in the villages of Azerbaijan in the northwest regions of Iran. These carpets are distinguished by their use of rectangular designs and heavy use of geometric patterns. Much different than the traditional Persian scrolls and organic lines, the Heriz use softer earth tone colors and are typically hand woven with a thicker more durable pile.
