Description

Finer Heriz rugs are named in the trade as Serapi. Heriz rugs originated in the villages of Azerbaijan in the northwest regions of Iran. These carpets are distinguished by their use of rectangular designs and heavy use of geometric patterns. Much different than the traditional Persian scrolls and organic lines, the Heriz use softer earth tone colors and are typically hand woven with a thicker more durable pile.

  • Size: 8'x10' x 9'x12'
  • Pattern: Central bold medallion with angular edges, a characteristic of the Heriz carpet.
  • Foundation: both wrap and weft are of handspun cotton
  • Knots: Turkish knot is used, weaves are fine up to 170 kpsi
  • Pile: Medium, strong, rather brush-like wool pile is cut short
