18.5 x 7 x 2.5 ″Hand carved of hardwood, beads and mirror.This comb was designed and constructed by the Akan People of the Republic of Ghana. In Akan culture, elaborate combs such as this were often rendered as gifts to commemorate special life changing rituals as circumcision, weddings or births. They were also given from the Akan bridegroom to the bride so to symbolize the couple’s desire to bear children.
