18 x 18.5 x 18.5 ″Handcrafted terra-cotta, clayThis unique vessel is hand constructed from terra-cotta clay by the Bukusu People from Kenya. It features three, large spouts on top with two pairs of concentric, striated rings sculpted around the upper middle of the body. These rings function both aesthetically and as a grip mechanism when pouring and drinking. Under the rings lie a carved, loose cluster of small, circular notches, also to aid grip. This vessel is intended for the consumption of local, alcoholic beverages and herbal remedies in domestic contexts and during various cultural enactments.
