Persian culture is world renowned for its textile artistry. A lattice is a perpetual repetition of specific shapes and patterns, and features a harmonious color palette founded on a maroon background. The border is marked by alternating motifs of diamond shapes and multi-colored, pointed stars. This object is also known as a “pictorial carpet” or “rug tableau.” That is, it is designed to be hung on the wall (or laid on the floor). The process of stylizing and preserving the form of such textiles requires a deep knowledge of craft as transmitted via oral tradition through centuries in Persian culture
