Fufu Stools
Designed by Fida Nehme | Bases hand-carved by the Senufo people

A celebration of joyful form and cultural continuity, the Fufu Stool is a whimsical yet sophisticated design collaboration between contemporary architect Fida Nehme and the master carvers of the Senufo people of West Africa. Each stool pairs a plush, vibrantly colored Tibetan fur seat with a sculptural, hand-carved base—melding modern design sensibility with ancestral craftsmanship.

The base, carved from solid wood using traditional techniques passed down through generations, reflects the Senufo’s minimalist aesthetic: raw, powerful, and elemental. These forms, with their totemic legs and subtly asymmetrical stance, evoke the ceremonial stools of a noble lineage—imbued with history and presence.

Crowning this heritage is Nehme’s playful yet tailored seat: a delightfully exaggerated dome of fur, available in an exuberant palette from cobalt blue to citron green. The juxtaposition of tactile softness and grounded materiality creates a dynamic tension—luxurious, unexpected, and alive with character.

Whether placed singly as a conversation piece or grouped as a vibrant cluster, Fufu Stools command attention while offering a moment of joy. They are not merely seats, but sculptural companions in a living space—each one as unique as the hands that shaped it.
