Originating in eastern Africa, Mancala is one of the world's oldest board games. The word Mancala comes from "naqala," an Arabic word meaning "to move". This game is played by moving pieces, usually seeds or beans, into different bowls on the game board until all the pieces are captured. Earlier versions of the game were played by digging small holes into the sand, but over time evolved into wood carved boards.
