The many patches, due to repair, signify its considerable use over time. The geometric motifs of the piece possesses royal significance. Likewise, the blue color of the cloth refers to the Bamileke elite. The process of stylizing and preserving the form of such cloths requires a deep knowledge of craft as transmitted via oral tradition through centuries in Bamileke culture.
