Caucasian Carpet (Weavers of NOA Living, India)

Caucasian Carpet (Weavers of NOA Living, India)

W 8'-11" X L 11'-10"Hand knotted of virgin, New Zealand wool; vegetable dyes employed; extremely high thread count. This carpet was knotted by our NOA master weavers based in India. Its color pallet is believed to be inspired by the geography of the Caucasus: natural contrasts of snow and earth indigenous to the cold, mountainous areas of this region. The many triangulated and squared shapes are geometrically aligned and staggered, rendering an attractive symmetry.
Employing permanent vegetable dyes, the piece is also distinguished by its extremely high thread count (144 knots per square inch). This object may also be interpreted as a “pictorial carpet” or “rug tableau.” That is, it is intended to be hung on the wall (or laid on the floor). NOA Living believes in “slow fashion” production, i.e., producing a piece that is constructed superbly with quality materials selected for present and future generations. NOA Living is a “GoodWeave” certified business. “The GoodWeave label means that no child, forced or bonded labor, was employed in the construction of this certified product, and that your purchase supports programs that educate children and ensure humane work conditions for adults.”
